For regrading roadside ditches, please contact the Road Commission for Oakland County. A final option is to build a rain garden to absorb any extra rainwater. If you are disturbing the soil on your property (other than minor gardening), and the disturbed area is within 500 feet of a lake, stream, wetland, or other water course, or the disturbed area is more than 1 acre in size, a soil erosion permit will be required. West Bloomfield does not maintain driveway culverts or roadside ditches. Roadside ditches are the responsibility of the Road Commission for Oakland County (unless on a private road).
